Greg Weaver
Chief Financial Officer
Greg Weaver is a seasoned veteran with demonstrated success in start-up, emerging and public companies. He directs Talyst’s financial management, administration and information technology functions. Over the past 10 years, Weaver has been involved in a series of strategic financings and acquisitions, and has raised more than $500 million in capital market transactions.
Prior to joining Talyst, Weaver held the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer of Sirna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: RNAI), a San Francisco biotechnology company. Sirna, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing RNAi based therapies for serious diseases and conditions, was acquired by Merck in 2006.
He was formerly chief financial officer of Nastech Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: NSTK), a Bothell, Wash. drug delivery company. In that role, Weaver successfully completed four rounds of equity financing, while building the finance, accounting, investor relations and human resource functions through rapid growth of the company from 40 to more than 150 employees.
Previously, Weaver served as chief financial officer of Ilex Oncology (NASDAQ: ILXO), a biopharmaceutical company. Among his many accomplishments at Ilex, he lead equity financings, grew the company’s market capitalization from $200 million to $1 billion, and managed several key acquisitions, while gaining valuable international experience.
Earlier in his career, Weaver held several senior financial management positions, including chief financial officer of Prism Technologies, a medical device company, and chief financial officer of a division of Fidelity Capital. Weaver began his career with Arthur Andersen.
Weaver received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, a Masters of Business Administration from Boston College, and received his CPA license in 1985. He also serves on the board of directors of Celsion (AMEX: CLN). He is a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
